Quick answer: CASE Catalog 2027 Q1 adds two 8MP white light security camera bullets. The Sharp Series CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm is the CS-I8WS S-2.8mm with 49 ft (15 m) of white light added; the Intelligent Series CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm is the CS-I8TS I-2.7-13.5mm varifocal with 98 ft (30 m) of white light and the same long AI list. White light is printed on the SD and US variants only. CASE cameras carry a 6-year warranty, serviced through you.

What changed versus the S and TS versions?

One letter in the SKU decides whether the camera has white light. Compare the pairs on the rows both print:

Printed row CS-I8WS S-2.8mm CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm (new) CS-I8TS I-2.7-13.5mm CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm (new)
Series Sharp Sharp Intelligent Intelligent
White Light Distance N/A 49 ft (15 m) None (the row is marked for the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm only) 98 ft (30 m)
Max. IR Distance 164 ft (50 m) 164 ft (50 m) 262 ft (80 m) 262 ft (80 m)
Operating Conditions −40 °F to 149 °F (−40 °C to 65 °C) −31 °F to 149 °F (−35 °C to 65 °C) −31 °F to 149 °F (−35 °C to 65 °C) −31 °F to 149 °F (−35 °C to 65 °C)

Within each pair, the other printed rows match: sensor, lens, resolution and frame rate, minimum illumination, WDR, audio, alarm I/O, memory slot, compression, protection, housing and the AI row. Two points to carry into the quote:

  • Cold rating. The CS-I8WS S-2.8mm prints a low limit of −40 °F (−40 °C); the CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm prints −31 °F (−35 °C). On a northern US or Canadian site where −40 is the design temperature, the S version is the printed match, and white light is not available on it.
  • Shared page. The CS-I8TS I-2.7-13.5mm and CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm share one catalog page. The white-light row prints 98 ft (30 m) marked for the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm only, so make no white-light claim for the CS-I8TS I-2.7-13.5mm. The 2027 Q1 minimum illumination on that page is 0.002 Lux; confirm it on the spec sheet.

The catalog shows the NightBright icon on the CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm page; for the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm, confirm the NightBright wording on the spec sheet before using it. Low-light and full-color behavior is stated per SKU on the specification sheet and should be confirmed for the site. For the wider picture of IR, white light and PhotonX, see full color night vision explained.

New white-light bullets: key numbers

When does white light help, and when is IR the better choice?

Infrared gives a monochrome night image over a longer distance; white light gives color inside a shorter zone. On both new bullets the IR reach is longer than the white-light reach, so design the white-light zone around the spot where color decides the evidence.

Jobs where white light earns its place

  • Entrances and doors: clothing color and a clearer face at 10 to 30 ft (3 to 9 m).
  • Parking rows and drive aisles: vehicle color, which is often the first detail an investigator asks for.
  • Loading docks and yard gates: color on the vehicle and the person at the point of entry.
  • Sites with poor site lighting: where the owner will not add pole lights, the camera’s own light covers the critical zone.

Where to hold back

  • Neighbors and roads: a light aimed at a residence, a window or oncoming drivers causes complaints and glare; local lighting ordinances may apply, so verify the local code.
  • Insects and webs: any light near the lens attracts insects at night; plan cleaning on the maintenance visit.
  • Long fields of view: beyond the printed white-light distance the image is lit only by IR or site lighting, so do not sell color at 150 ft (46 m).
  • Deterrence: these two bullets do not print EW or AEW. If the job needs light and audio triggered by a detection, specify an EW model; see active deterrence cameras.

Illumination modes and their triggers are set in the camera firmware; confirm the modes on the spec sheet and agree the setting with the owner before handover.

How do you plan the 49 ft (15 m) and 98 ft (30 m) white-light zones?

The printed distance is the reach of the light, not an identification distance. Plan in three steps:

  1. Mark the target zone. Pick the door, aisle or gate where color matters and measure its distance from the planned mount.
  2. Match the zone to the SKU. Inside 49 ft (15 m) with a fixed wide view, the CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm fits. Where the target is farther away or needs a tighter view, the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm gives a 2.7–13.5 mm varifocal lens and 98 ft (30 m) of white light.
  3. Check pixel density at the target. Both are 8MP at 3840×2160; the lens and the target distance decide the pixels per foot. Use the method in the field of view and lens calculator; field-of-view angles come from the spec sheet.

Keep reflective surfaces, such as a wall or soffit, out of the bottom of the image so the light does not wash out the scene, and check the image at night before you leave the site.

Which AI does the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm print?

The AI row is the clearest difference between the two new bullets.

  • CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm (Sharp): Human & Vehicle Classification, Tripwire, Perimeter.
  • CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm (Intelligent): Human/Vehicle/Non-motor Vehicle/Pet (Cat, Dog) Classification, Tripwire, Double Tripwire, Perimeter, Object Abandon, Object Missing, Heatmap, Loitering, Running, Parking, People Counting, Crowd Detection, Safety Helmet Detection, On Duty Detection, Video Abnormal, Audio Abnormal.

The longer list matters on retail, logistics and industrial jobs: Loitering at a rear door, Parking in a fire lane, People Counting at an entrance and Safety Helmet Detection at a dock. Each function is confirmed per model, firmware, software version and project configuration, and how the events appear on the recorder depends on the NVR model. The CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm also prints audio I/O 1/1 and alarm I/O 2/1; the CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm prints N/A for both. Both print a built-in microphone, so audio recording laws apply; see the audio recording laws checklist.

Not in the catalog rows: power draw with white light on, field-of-view angles and the available colors. Take them from the spec sheet; budget PoE from the maximum draw with white light and IR at full output.

Installation and commissioning checklist

  1. Write the full SKU on the camera schedule; CS-I8WS S-2.8mm and CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm differ in white light and cold rating.
  2. Confirm the white-light zone at night from the mount position, with the owner present if neighbors are close.
  3. On the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm, set zoom and focus at night as well as by day.
  4. Configure only the AI rules the customer asked for, walk-test each one and record the result.
  5. Add the camera to a CASE NVR by plug-and-play; on other platforms, ONVIF profiles supported are S, T, and G, with M on pinhole models. Third-party behavior is confirmed per platform and project.
  6. For projects with NDAA or other compliance requirements, ask Anabon for the approved per-SKU documentation before the bid goes out.

What to tell your customer

“These cameras add their own white light over the area that matters most, such as the door or the parking row, so night recordings there can show the color of a car or a jacket. Beyond that zone they record in infrared. We will check the light at night so it does not shine into a neighbor’s window, and the cameras carry a 6-year warranty with all service through us.”

FAQ

What is the difference between the CS-I8WS S-2.8mm and the CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm?

The SD version prints a white-light distance of 49 ft (15 m), while the S version prints N/A. The S version prints a lower operating limit of −40 °F (−40 °C) against −31 °F (−35 °C) on the SD. Sensor, lens, resolution, IR distance, AI, memory slot and protection rows match as printed. Choose by white light against cold rating.

Does the CS-I8TS I-2.7-13.5mm have white light?

No. The two varifocal bullets share one catalog page, and the white-light row of 98 ft (30 m) is marked for the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm only. Quote the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm when the job needs 98 ft (30 m) of white light, and the CS-I8TS I-2.7-13.5mm when infrared to 262 ft (80 m) and the same AI list are enough.

Will white light give color video across the whole scene?

Only inside the printed white-light distance and only where the light reaches. Past 49 ft (15 m) on the CS-I8WS SD-2.8mm, or 98 ft (30 m) on the CS-I8US I-2.7-13.5mm, the scene depends on infrared or site lighting. Low-light and full-color behavior is stated per SKU on the specification sheet and should be confirmed for the site.

Are these white-light bullets deterrence cameras?

They do not print EW or AEW, so do not sell them as active deterrence. EW and AEW are deterrence features, and availability is confirmed per SKU. When a job needs light and audio triggered by a detected person or vehicle, specify a model that prints EW, and use these bullets where color evidence at night is the requirement.

What warranty applies to these cameras?

CASE cameras and CASE NVRs carry a 6-year warranty. CASE PTZ cameras carry a 3-year warranty. CASE accessories carry unlimited warranty. Hard drives are supported through back-to-back manufacturer warranty. Warranty service for both bullets runs through the installer or dealer; an end user should contact the installer or company that supplied the system.
