CS-P66V 25XA-180 and CS-P58 T-44X: Panoramic PTZ Camera and Thermal PTZ

Installer spotlight on two CASE PTZs: the CS-P66V 25XA-180 with a 180° panorama and 25x PTZ in one unit, and the CS-P58 T-44X bi-spectrum thermal PTZ with printed fire detection.

Quick answer: The CS-P66V 25XA-180 is a panoramic PTZ camera that puts a 6MP 180° panorama (2.8mm) and a 4MP 25x PTZ (4.8-120mm) in one housing, with auto tracking, 492 ft (150 m) IR and PoE 802.3bt or 24V power as printed. The CS-P58 T-44X pairs a 384×288 thermal channel with an optical channel of up to 3072×1728@30fps on a 6–264 mm lens, and prints fire detection of a 6.6 ft × 6.6 ft (2 m × 2 m) fire at 9,843 ft (3000 m). Both are CASE PTZ cameras, which carry a 3-year warranty serviced through you.

What does a panoramic PTZ camera do that two cameras do not?

A conventional PTZ has one problem every installer knows: when it zooms in on one event, it stops watching everything else. The usual fix is a fixed overview camera next to it. A panoramic PTZ camera puts both jobs in one unit: a fixed panorama that keeps recording the whole scene, and a PTZ module that zooms to the detail. One mount, one cable run and one location to survey, with two channels on the recorder.

Design question Separate overview + PTZ CS-P66V 25XA-180
Overview while the PTZ is zoomed Yes, from the second camera Yes, from the panorama channel
Mounts and cable runs Two One
Recorder channels Two Two (panorama and PTZ)
Power Two budgets to plan One: AC24V, DC24V or PoE 802.3bt as printed
Alignment of overview and detail Set by hand on site Same housing and viewpoint

Typical jobs: parking lots and dealership rows, campus quads, logistics yards, and building corners where one pole or wall position must cover a wide area and still zoom in on a vehicle or a person on demand. For when a PTZ is worth it at all, see PTZ cameras: auto tracking, laser deterrence and when fixed cameras are enough.

How do the panorama and PTZ channels split the work on the CS-P66V 25XA-180?

The two channels print different optics, low-light figures and analytics. Treat them as two cameras that share a housing.

Printed row Panorama channel PTZ channel
Megapixel 6MP 4MP
Lens 2.8mm 4.8-120mm (25X)
Max. resolution 3840×1568@30fps Not printed in this row; confirm on the spec sheet
Min. illumination 0.0001 Lux 0.001 Lux
AI Tripwire, Double Tripwire, Heatmap, Human & Vehicle Classification Tripwire, Double Tripwire, Perimeter, Object Abandon, Object Lost, Loitering, Running, Parking, Crowd Detection, People Counting, On Duty Detection, Video Abnormal, Audio Abnormal, Human & Vehicle Classification, Face Capture

The panorama channel carries the CASE PhotonX technology, which is where its 0.0001 Lux figure comes from; low-light and full-color behavior is stated per SKU on the specification sheet and should be confirmed for the site. Auto Tracking is printed Yes: when a target is detected, the PTZ module follows it while the panorama keeps the wide view. The catalog also lists this model with AEW (Auto-tracking Early Warning), and the unit prints a built-in speaker, Audio I/O 1/1 and Alarm I/O 2/1. EW and AEW are deterrence features. Availability is confirmed per SKU, so confirm the deterrence outputs and their behavior on the spec sheet and firmware before you sell the unit as a talk-down or deterrence camera. IR is printed to 492 ft (150 m), and the memory slot takes up to 512 GB.

Commissioning the tracking

  1. Set the PTZ home position and the panorama view first; draw rules only after both are final.
  2. Define tracking zones away from public roads and neighboring property so the PTZ does not chase passing traffic.
  3. Set a return-to-home time so the PTZ does not stay parked on the last target.
  4. Test at night with a walk test across the whole panorama; check how the PTZ handles two targets at once.

What is the CS-P58 T-44X for, and how far does fire detection reach as printed?

The CS-P58 T-44X is a bi-spectrum PTZ: a thermal channel built on a vanadium oxide uncooled focal plane array (384×288, 17µm pixel interval, 8µm~14µm response waveband, NETD ≤40mK@f/1.0) and an optical channel of up to 3072×1728@30fps on a 6mm~264mm lens with 120dB WDR and 984 ft (300 m) Smart IR. The thermal lens is a fixed 50mm with a field of view of 7.5° horizontal and 5.6° vertical, so the thermal channel is a long, narrow view that the PTZ points where it is needed.

The printed fire detection row is Fire(2mx2m) 3000m: a 6.6 ft × 6.6 ft (2 m × 2 m) fire at 9,843 ft (3000 m), or about 1.9 miles. Always quote the target size with the distance; a smaller fire is detected at a shorter range, and terrain, weather and line of sight decide what happens on a real site. The thermal channel prints Tripwire, Double Tripwire, Perimeter, Temperature Alarm and Fire / Smoke Detection; the optical channel prints a long list including Auto-Tracking, Face Capture, Safety Helmet Detection and Early Warning. For how thermal detection differs from infrared imaging, see thermal vs infrared cameras.

  • Good fits: lumber, scrap and recycling yards, agricultural storage, utility and municipal yards, large perimeters where people or vehicles must be detected in the dark or in smoke.
  • Not the job: replacing a code-required fire alarm or detection system. Thermal fire detection is an early visual alert for the operator. Code-required systems follow NFPA 72 in the US; in Canada, verify the local code.
  • Built-in parts as printed: microphone, speaker, automatic wiper, electronic compass and GPS/BDS, useful for orienting the camera on large sites and for keeping the optical window clear.

How do you power and mount these PTZs?

Power is where PTZ jobs go wrong, so plan it before the quote.

  • CS-P66V 25XA-180: printed AC24V±25%, DC24V±10% or PoE 802.3bt. The catalog CASE switches, such as the CS-POE33024PF, print IEEE 802.3af/at and 30W maximum per port, which is not a bt-class port. Use the 24V supply or a bt-rated PoE source, and take the maximum consumption from the spec sheet. See the PoE budget calculator for the arithmetic.
  • CS-P58 T-44X: no power row is printed in the catalog. Do not size the power supply or the cable until you have the spec sheet.
  • Cable length: keep each Ethernet run within 328 ft (100 m) or plan fiber or an extender.
  • Surge: the CS-P58 T-44X prints lightning, surge and voltage transient protection meeting EN 55035:2017. Pole-top PTZs still need bonding and surge protection on the data and power lines; ground per NEC in the US and CEC in Canada.
  • Mounting: both print IP66. Housing material is not printed for either unit. Choose a wall, corner or pole bracket rated for the camera weight from its spec sheet; mount and junction box compatibility is confirmed per individual spec sheet.
  • Temperature: the CS-P66V 25XA-180 prints −22 °F to 149 °F (−30 °C to 65 °C). The CS-P58 T-44X prints −40 °F to 158 °F (−40 °C to 70 °C) with IR off and −40 °F to 104 °F (−40 °C to 40 °C) with IR on.

What warranty applies to CASE PTZ cameras?

Both units are CASE PTZ cameras, so the PTZ term applies, not the camera term. CASE cameras and CASE NVRs carry a 6-year warranty. CASE PTZ cameras carry a 3-year warranty. CASE accessories carry unlimited warranty. Hard drives are supported through back-to-back manufacturer warranty. Write 3-year for these SKUs on every proposal line, and route service through your business account; an end user should contact the installer or company that supplied their system.

What to tell your customer

This one camera keeps a wide view of the whole area recorded while its zoom module follows and enlarges what is happening, so you do not lose the overview when it zooms in. The thermal PTZ watches for people, vehicles and heat in the dark and gives an early visual fire alert; it does not replace your fire alarm system. Both are PTZ cameras with a 3-year warranty, and all service runs through us.

FAQ

Can I power the CS-P66V 25XA-180 from a CASE PoE switch?

The CS-P66V 25XA-180 prints PoE 802.3bt, AC24V or DC24V. The CASE switches in the catalog, such as the CS-POE33024PF, print IEEE 802.3af/at with 30W per port, which is not a bt-class port. Use the 24V supply or a bt-rated PoE source, and size it from the spec sheet consumption figure.

What resolution does the PTZ channel of the CS-P66V 25XA-180 record?

The resolution row prints only the panorama: 3840×1568@30fps. The PTZ module is printed as 4MP with a 4.8-120mm (25X) lens, but its resolution and frame rate are not in that row. Confirm both on the spec sheet before you size recorder bandwidth or storage for the PTZ channel.

Does the CS-P58 T-44X detect every fire at 9,843 ft (3000 m)?

No. The printed figure is for a 6.6 ft × 6.6 ft (2 m × 2 m) fire at 9,843 ft (3000 m). Smaller fires are detected at shorter ranges, and line of sight, weather and terrain change the result. Quote the target size with the distance, and present thermal detection as an early visual alert, not a code-required fire system.

Can the CS-P58 T-44X measure body temperature?

Do not position it that way. The thermal channel prints Temperature Alarm and Fire / Smoke Detection for site and equipment monitoring on a long, narrow 7.5° by 5.6° view. Screening people for body temperature is a different application with its own requirements, and nothing in the printed rows supports quoting it for that purpose.

What warranty do I write on the proposal for these two SKUs?

Write 3-year. Both are CASE PTZ cameras: CASE PTZ cameras carry a 3-year warranty, while CASE cameras and CASE NVRs carry a 6-year warranty, CASE accessories carry unlimited warranty, and hard drives are supported through back-to-back manufacturer warranty. Service runs through you and your business account, never directly to the end user.
